DashPack
Riding, phone mounting and device safety
Read before riding with DashPack. These precautions reduce risks; they do not make riding or a phone mount risk-free. Follow your phone, mount, bike and accessory manufacturers’ instructions.
Use a proper vibration-damping mount
Do not mount your phone on a bike or e-bike without a secure, compatible mount designed to damp vibration and absorb shocks. A rigid clamp alone is not vibration protection. Check the mount, fasteners and phone retention before every ride; keep the screen, cables and hardware clear of steering, brakes, controls and your view. Remove the phone if the setup is loose, damaged or unsuitable.
Vibration can damage the camera
Bike vibration and impacts can damage a phone, including camera stabilization and autofocus components. A damping mount reduces risk but cannot guarantee protection. Apple recommends damping for small or electric vehicles, avoiding prolonged regular exposure, and not attaching an iPhone to high-power or high-volume motorcycle engines. Follow the phone manufacturer’s limits even when using a mount.
Set up while stopped
Set your destination, group, permissions and recording before moving. Stop in a safe place before touching the screen, reading detailed data, scanning a code or adjusting the mount. Do not operate DashPack while riding. Keep your attention on the road or trail, use appropriate protective equipment and follow local access and traffic rules.
Readings are information, not a safety system
GPS, maps, speed, battery, mode, regen and brake data may be delayed, inaccurate, incomplete or unavailable. Use the bike’s own controls and instruments and the conditions around you. Unavailable is not zero. Replay samples can miss brief brake events; they are not a complete incident record. DashPack does not control your bike, guarantee remaining range, detect every hazard or replace maintenance and inspection.
Groups and emergencies
Group positions can disappear or become stale when a phone sleeps, permission changes, GPS is poor or internet, Bluetooth or mesh links fail. Agree on meeting points and a communication plan before riding. Do not use group tracking, recording or support as an emergency locator or rescue service. Stop safely and contact local emergency services when needed.
Heat, weather, power and installation
Follow manufacturer temperature, water-resistance and charging limits. Sunlight, navigation and charging can heat a phone; stop use if it overheats, shows a warning or has a damaged battery. Keep connectors dry and cables secured away from moving parts. Use compatible undamaged accessories; mount hardware must not interfere with steering or brakes. Have a qualified installer assess any electrical or bike installation you cannot safely perform.
Protect shared routes
Approved group members can see information you share; a route may reveal home, work or regular meeting places. Check location sharing and recording permission before joining. Turning recording permission off cannot recall copies already saved by others. Read Permissions and data controls and the privacy policy for retention and deletion limits.
